I haven't read too much about this kind of thing. It might be applicable to a small group such as ourselves.

Perhaps I'm missing the point... What would something like that do that we can't already do on the board? The only thing I know about social networking sites is how to close the browser windows which they occupy. _________________ --Felipe I Torrejon

| I don't think we have enough female members for any of that stuff to work right anyway. We have about as much drama as The Weather Channel. |

I guess that is one of the requirements for social networking sites. While I haven't been on them, it seems that any time that I hear people talking about those, they are going on about some silly drama that occurred. _________________ --Felipe I Torrejon

| I think this video sorta sums up the whole mess nicely. |

So I'm guessing no one here realizes that I'm not suggesting we become a social network.
The thing I was after was having a private network/site/whatever. Board will continue to be an okay thing though.
In any case, nevermind.
What we should consider, however, is that the Probe scene is dead and has been so for a long time, even with us. Perhaps this should become, like us, something more inclusive. We all have many other car interests.

I agree with both statements. I wouldn't call it dead, but it has been reduced to a very small niche group. I don't participate in Probetalk because it got on my nerves many, many years ago. Of course, most things do.
If there's a larger group we could participate in that would be pretty awesome. But I think groups can be too inclusive.
Maybe we should consider creating a niche vehicle group. I would define that as for enthusiasts of low production volume models that have been discontinued. It would be great to open it up to everyone, but then you'd wind up with yet another group flooded by the same fanboy base (Camaro, Mustang, Civic and so forth) that pollute every other generic car enthusiast site and that tends to drown out the conversation on less popular vehicles.
I think the phpBB forum is probably the best medium. The only thing I'd add to the site is a java chat app that links to a channel hosted on Freenode. If people want profiles they can link to them or I'm sure there's a phpBB profile mod out there that would allow for stuff like car picture galleries. |

That sounds good. Thing is, I have no idea how to work with phpBB. Charles has been handling that. He is still available by phone call but not really present on the board.
Decisions on what to include need to be suggested and made.
