Okay, so I pulled the '89 out of the weeds, cleaned out the moldy interior, got my rusty tools from the floorboard, and gave the outside a once over. I think I'm about ready to start again. I finally have a little bit of $$ saved up, so maybe I can take a trip to north Alabama for some parts. I was going to rebuild my motor again, but with all my pieces scattered around, I'll be better off getting a whole car. I've got the 351 Cleveland pulled out of the '73 Ranchero right now. I have to find various nuts and bolts to get back on track, but I should be done before October. I'm putting my '89 Firebird after the Probe. I have to find the key on that one. No telling where I put it. _________________ Red/Black '89 PGL conversion to PGT

Wow, everyone is coming out of the woodwork and dusting off old projects. Next thing you know, we'll be hearing from Israel and I'll be working on the 626! _________________ --Felipe I Torrejon

Should I call him?
Good to see you here Jason. Hopefully I'll get a weekend in September to help out.

I know where there are 2 1st gens out hwy 82 west in Gordo. I might take a quick road trip next week. IIRC the GT has a NA motor in it, so it may not be what I need. Anybody have a 1st gen GT powertrain? My trasmission has a huge hole in it and my NEW expensive motor flung itself apart. I'll also need a few red interior parts. Keeping the doors shut in mid summer tends to melt interior pieces, REALLY! _________________ Red/Black '89 PGL conversion to PGT

I do see one '89 GT on Ebay. Buy it now $1500 in Horn Lake, TN. Even though I would love another probe sitting in my yard, the 3 other 1st gen shells are enough. _________________ Red/Black '89 PGL conversion to PGT

Did you call Joe?? Best to email him I think. He no longer has a home phone. Cut it off. He may actually be using his cell phone now.

I'm afraid my 1st gen is on the bottom of the list for now. Especially since I haven't even registered it since it doesn't run.
It's kind of a chicken/egg thing. I don't wanna spend the money registering it until I know I'm gonna get it running, but I don't see the point in registering it if it doesn't run. I know it has the potential to run though...I've driven it before. _________________ Anything I do is purely coincidental. |

Well, I've got plenty of 1st gen parts and more than enough 1st gen experience. If you don't want to fix it, do you want to bring it to my probe junkyard? I'm always looking to trade. I don't think I'm familiar with your 1st gen... _________________ Red/Black '89 PGL conversion to PGT

It's a black 89 PGT with all 4 center caps intact. And some kind of plush red pimp interior.
I'm not gonna worry about it until I have more playtime though but I do look forward to getting to know that chassis and powertrain better. _________________ Anything I do is purely coincidental. |

Yeah, I'll tackle a 1st gen anyday. It's those fancy 2nd gens I don't know much about. Me and Barry did a V6 swap, but much more than that, I'm useless.
I did email Joe and he still has the car. Barry, looks like we have a road trip ahead of us. Dad said we can use the truck and trailer.
Wow! Can this honestly be my 5th post in a row? Looks like I'm gonna stick around this time. Finally got DSL, so I'll be here more often. _________________ Red/Black '89 PGL conversion to PGT

Boy, do I know what you mean! Still, when you do get around to it, I think that we'll have some fun. Lots of fun.

I've worked on both pretty extensively. I have to agree, both in complexity and packaging, the second gen is more challenging to work on than the 1G, in general.

Uh-oh, which car is that? Do I smell a super-secret project?

Awesome. We can always use more active members, especially those who are tech savvy.

Maybe you should call Israel. That would be almost all that's keeping us from putting the old band back together! _________________ --Felipe I Torrejon

No super secret. Joe has a 1G GT that has been sitting there, ready for Jason to pick up for quite some time. Just don't ask me to remove an alternator from either. I can do them but don't like to, at all.
The motivation swap into the green car was not all that hard, now that I look back on it. The worst part was working in my shed on the dirt floor.
If I can find time to call him, not too early or late, I'll do so. Heck, I don't think Joe has checked in for a while either.
Must get a weekend off and balls to drive my car that far. I'm worried more and more about the cat or something under there getting awfully hot, emitting that warm metal smell. The check engine light comes on more frequently too.
**Edit** Just emailed Israel. Hopefully the board has a current address for him.
